Sports Rehabilitation

Sports Rehabilitation
Sports Physiotherapy is a part of physiotherapy from complex surgical procedures to everyday sprains and strains. Our goal is to work with you to help you recover fully. The therapy doesn't stop when the pain stops but continues until you can resume your sports at the level before your injury. The level of training increases and includes functional parts and movements of your sports.
We provide patients with a full spectrum of effective, outpatient rehabilitative care as well as industrial injury rehabilitation. All of our sports physiotherapists motivate, challenge and encourage our patients to take an active role in their own recovery. Your recovery does not end as soon as you are out of the physiotherapist's direct care. You and your therapist will design an individualized conditioning program for you to continue at home or at a fitness facility. In addition, we also show you how to prevent reoccurrence by teaching you how to avoid injuries during work or sports. Our staff encourages all of our patients to become health-conscious people and to increase their overall fitness level, muscular strength and endurance.

Your Sports Physical Treatment:

1. Evaluation

A comprehensive biomechanical examination determines how far you have come on the road to recovery, and how far you have to go. This examination determines the parameters of your injury or condition, including scientific testing for strength, mobility, joint range of motion, ligamentous integrity, reflexes and balance. During this time patient and therapist set goals for the rehabilitation.

2. Rehabilitation

Sessions with your own therapist help to strengthen weakened muscles, increase flexibility, and improve mobility. The physiotherapist may use a variety of treatment techniques to aid in your recovery. These include therapeutic exercise, joint mobilization and range-of-motion exercises, cardiovascular endurance training and therapeutic massage. Modalities, including electrotherapy or hydrotherapy can also be applied during the treatment program to help relieve pain.

3. Education

We explain your injury so that you understand what happened to your body and how physical therapy can speed up your recovery. We also provide specific guidelines for continuing your progress at home between sessions to either help you return to your former level of activity or help you surpass your prior level of functioning.
